"The Cota Standard will be a catalyst for the development and adoption of Real Wireless Power™," said Mario Obeidat, CEO of Ossia. "By addressing interoperability across devices, implementations and countries, we are enabling Cota ecosystems to grow quickly and seamlessly throughout the world. This standard makes Cota the de facto standard in real wireless power."
Cota delivers real wireless power without plugs, wires, or charging pads. It can power multiple devices in motion, without a line of sight, at a distance. Cota is inherently safe and does not interfere with other wireless technologies. All Cota-enabled devices can be activated, managed, and monitored via the Cota Cloud platform.
The Cota Standard 1.0 documents the various implementations and compatibility requisites for interoperability. It specifies how a Cota Power Transmitter interacts with one or more Cota Receivers, and it defines the methods used to deliver wireless power. The Cota Standard 1.0 will ensure that manufacturers can customize wireless power systems yet maintain interoperability with designs from other companies globally.
With the release of Cota Standard, Ossia is taking another significant step forward in ushering in the era of Real Wireless Power. The owner of a Cota-enabled device, with network permission, will be able to access wireless power at work, airports, hospitals, and other locations. Similarly, a company that makes Cota-enabled security sensors can be confident that they will charge in any location via a Cota Power Transmitter, whether it's an office building or data center.
"We are delivering on our vision for the Cota Standard to deliver safe, efficient power over long distances," said Hatem Zeine, founder and CTO of Ossia. "We believe this standard is a strong foundation on which to build a licensing business model and introduce wireless power globally."
