The receiver, embedded in the device that needs charging, first sends out a beacon signal to find the Cota transmitter.
Then, the transmitter sends power back to the source of the beacon.
According to the firm, this exchange happens about 100 times per second.
The system could be used to power all sorts of devices, including smart home devices such as security systems, locks, thermostats, remote controls, and more.
The design means devices that use AAs could maintain their charge without ever having to replace the batteries – and, Ossia says the technology could soon be incorporated into other devices to do away with wires and even charging pads
Eventually, Ossia says it hopes to bring the technology to ‘every device that needs power.’
Using the Cota power system would also allow you to monitor and control the devices through the Cota Cloud – meaning you could unlock smart capabilities in ‘dumb’ devices.
Doing this, you could manage the power usage, or even allow multiple connected devices to communicate with each other, according to Ossia.
The Cota Forever Battery will charge even if you’re moving – and, it won’t interfere with other wireless devices.
