Businesses and brands in Europe and the UK can now leverage the full potential of Ossia’s patented wireless power technology.
In the US, one of the biggest milestones for bringing any wireless power to life is FCC certification. Ossia has achieved FCC approvals in a few different ways, and we couldn’t be more proud. But limiting our ground-breaking wireless power technology to the States is hardly fair.
That’s why we’ve been hard at work to gain similar acceptance from the regulatory bodies in Europe and the UK. Today, we’re happy to share that Cota® Real Wireless Power™ — the patented technology that delivers power over-the-air, at a distance, and without the need for line-of-sight — has met the standards to use the CE and UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marks on Cota-enabled products that send and receive power wirelessly. What’s more, there is no distance limitation.
This is a huge step toward a future of eliminating the need for wires and batteries in small devices, sensors, and IoT around the world. In fact, this is the very first RF-based non-line-of-sight, wireless power technology at-a-distance product to receive EU/UK Type Examination Certificates and that can bear both the CE and UKCA marks. No small feat!
What does this mean for your business? It means that the Cota system is in compliance with the radio, emissions, immunity, and RF safety standards applicable under the EU Radio Equipment Directive and the UK Radio Equipment Regulation. Previously, Cota could only be leveraged in the US. So if you have consumer, commercial, or industrial products that are created or distributed in the EU, you are now able to leverage Cota Real Wireless Power technology for these applications.
In other words, your global brand has the opportunity to level up on innovation in powering mobile devices, without any distance limitation. This could be a tremendous competitive advantage. Plus, Cota doesn’t require line of sight; it safely offers significant power delivery without having to power on and off when there is an obstruction, including people nearby. This latest achievement will enable a whole new generation of smart products across the globe.
Already, Cota is being deployed in multiple US customer applications, including as an asset tracker for the logistics and transportation industry. What will be the first EU deployment? As more and more countries, like those in Europe and the United Kingdom, approve the use of wireless power, how will the environment and economy be impacted by a decreasing reliance on wires and batteries? Which global brand will adopt wireless power first and transform the world as we know it?
We anticipate that, with Real Wireless Power, companies will achieve a better environmental footprint, decreased costs, and increased efficiencies and innovations across all industries. Ossia is committed to empowering more businesses and brands to leverage the full range of wireless power at-a-distance technology.
Considering wireless power as a competitive advantage for your business operations, products, or services? We’d love to hear your ideas.
