Ossia has just released the next generation reference design kit for Cota Chipset, which original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can use today to customize and install in their products.
OEMs have been working with Ossia to create market-ready wireless power products, and this kit brings them two new components: Cota Wireless Power Receiver Chip and Cota Wireless Power Transmitter Chip.
Cota Wireless Power Receiver Chip
The Cota receiver chip is small and easily fits in smartphones, wearables, sensors, and other IoT devices. It can receive up to four watts of incoming radio frequency (RF) power from as many as four antennas simultaneously.
This means automatic, over-air wireless power charging at a distance, even while in motion, for everything OEMs make.
Cota Wireless Power Transmitter Chip
The Cota Transmitter chip can be built into many forms such as ceiling tiles, tables, desks, glass, televisions, and automobile dashboards. The opportunities for new design and innovations are endless.
Cota Chipset Design Kit Advancements
What does this new release mean for the advancement of wireless power? Compared to earlier Cota designs:
- The new receiver charges devices faster
- The new transmitter delivers roughly twice as much power safely
- The receiver features an ultra-low power sleep mode, which ensures the chip is only activated in range of a transmitter, and stays cooler
Real wireless power via Cota delivers energy without cables or charging mats. It’s inherently safe and can power multiple devices in motion, without a line of sight, and at a distance.
